This blog post is a little different than what I normally post, which is partly the reason why I want to post it.
I went to visit my Grandma and Grandad today to catch up, but also to document where I spent a large part of my life when I was a youngster. Much has changed yet much has stayed the same (like the untidy neighbour). I also wanted to document a day of their life, and the struggles that they overcome now they are older. For example my Grandad has a bad hip which makes walking up steps difficult, and also my Grandma’s reliance on dialysis.
As I spent allot of my time with my Grandma and Grandad, both are dearly important to me. I remember Grandma in particular taught me the importance of good manners with her saying “Manners maketh man”, which she would say every time I slipped up with my “please” and “thank you’s”.
My Grandma now suffers from kidney failure and has to make 3-4 trips to hospital per week. Each trip takes around 5-6 hours with 4 hours actually plugged into the dialysis machine. As you can imagine this gruelling routine will get you down from time to time, so I wanted to cheer them both up. My Grandad no doubt misses her while she is gone, although he tells me he keeps himself busy watching TV (just kidding Grandad).
If you don’t like the sight of blood, I wouldn’t advise going any further!
